Statement of Beliefs

1. We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and ruler of all things both seen and unseen (I Tim. 2:5) And in Jesus Christ His only Begotten Son who is one with God by whom all things were made (Col. 1:15-19) And the Holy Spirit who is sent from God the Father and Son (John 14:15-17), (Acts 2:4).

2. We believe that all men were made in the image of God and that their first parents disobeyed God therefore bringing sin on all humanity and that the only way that man can be restored unto God is through his redeeming Grace (Titus 2:11-12), (John 3:16).

3. We believe that in the fullness of time God sent His Son Jesus Christ to redeem all mankind from their sinful state (Gal. 4:4-6), (I Pet. 3:9).

4. We believe that the Holy Bible both New and Old Testaments is the inspired Word of God revealed through men by divine inspiration through God which is the authority by God to be taught to all mankind (II Tim. 3:15), (II Pet. 1:19-21).

5. We believe that the Love of God for sinful man has found its' highest expression of redemption through His Son who became man; uniting His divine nature with our human nature. His walk as a man who was tempted like other men, yet without sin, baring humiliation but remaining obedient in His suffering for us, so His death on the Cross and His resurrection, fulfilled the destiny of a perfect redeemer who sanctified us by sacrificing himself for the sins of the world, declaring the righteousness of reconciliation (Gal. 3:13), (Heb. 2:16), (Phil. 2:8).

6. We believe that if a man will accept Jesus Christ as his redeemer he will receive forgiveness for his sins and be made a child of God (I Tim. 2:5), (Gal. 1:14), (Heb. 9:24).

7. We believe that justification is an act of God whereby all the sins of ones’ past life are forgiven through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ immediately when one repents and ask God’s forgiveness (Rom. 5:18), (Rom. 10:9-10), (Titus 3:5), (Rom. 3:24-25).

8. We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is the gift of power granted to the sanctified life (Luke 24:49), (Mat. 3:11), (John 7:38-39), (John 14:17-26), (Acts 1:58), (Acts 2:4).

9. We believe that the Lord’s Day is a Holy Day of worship and a study of His Word and that we should spend part of His Holy Day in church services (Acts 13:44), (Heb. 10:21-25).

10. We believe that divine healing is a miracle from God which through Jesus Christ can heal the sick and all manner of disease (Isa. 53:4-5), (James 5:14-15).

11. We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ at which time He will execute judgment for those who will receive everlasting life and also for those who will receive everlasting punishment (Mat. 25:31-46), (Rev. 1:7), (I Thes. 4:16-17), (Rev. 20:1-15), (Rev. 21:1-6).

Baptism
We believe that baptism represents the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and must be administered to all by emersion once they have accepted Jesus as their Savior and by repentance, decided to walk according to His Will (John 3:23), (Acts 8:38), (Mat. 3:16), (Mark 15:9), (Mat. 28:19-20).

Communion
We believe that Communion is a requirement for all Christians to celebrate just as Jesus did with His Disciples and that this ceremony commemorates the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (I Cor. 10:16-17), (I Cor. 11:23-34), (Mat. 26:26-30).

Marriage
We believe that marriage is ordained of God and is a sacred union entered upon by a man and a woman according to the Holy Scriptures. We also believe that this unity is Holy and should not be entered upon without a Spiritual understanding of God’s requirements (Gen. 2:21-24), (Eph. 5:21-33).

Divorce
We believe that divorce should only take place when the marriage has been violated by an act of fornication, adultery or any immoral behavior that will defile and destroy the marriage (Mat. 5:31-32), (Mat. 19:8-9) and all other scriptures which support the marriage union.

Our History

The Lord has mandated this ministry for an evangelistic mission. Bible Temple Church, formally, Body of Christ Ministries, was birth in April of 2001, through an informal bible study in the homes of whom those the Lord sent to receive His word and assist in the teaching of bible studies as the Holy Spirit lead.  It was an environment where the Word of God was shared under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.   This mission was the foundation of a bible based ministry for the community, which would reach God's children through teaching the unadulterated Word of God and leading them to stability with God, through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

After careful consideration and constant praying, Pastor Young was led by God to start a Christian Independent Church. Pastor Young shared this vision with his family and the men and women who God sent to assist.  They were also inspired to pursue this vision.  Not long after this, several meetings were held to plan and discuss the name and direction of the Church.

On October 8, 2001, after prayerfully seeking God, the name Body of Christ Ministries was selected.  This church will be a Christian Independent Church founded on the Doctrine of Jesus Christ. Body of Christ Ministries would be a family-oriented church which will extend the invitation of Christian Discipleship to all people looking to build a wholesome more fulfilling life in Jesus Christ.

The Lord led us to Marlton Elementary School in Upper Marlboro, Md., this would be the temporary location for Body of Christ Ministries.  An Anointing Service was held in the name of Jesus Christ, where Elder Kenneth Parker of Redeeming Grace Church, conducted an installation service.  On Sunday, December 2, 2001, the doors of the church opened officially.

For 2 ½  years at Marlton, Body of Christ Ministries continued to faithfully reach the lives of those who God sent for worship services and weekly bible studies. Many lives were touched during our ministry at Marlton, like many new churches, Body of Christ Ministries experienced its’ ups and downs.  Through it all we remained faithful to the vision and work of the Lord.
During the close of 2003, God showed us that our mission at Marlton Elementary was coming to a close.  Following God’s leadership, we discussed with our church, the calling to relocate the church to Dorchester Community Center in Waldorf, Md.  This was a hard decision knowing that Waldorf would be quite a distance for some of our members.

Our move to Waldorf, Maryland was a divine blessing filled with opportunities to further the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We immediately began advertising to the local residents about our ministry and programs that were available, such as Christening Services, Revivals, Prayer Breakfast, Sunrise Services, Friends and Family Day, Math assistance for students, and a Black History Fellowship.   The Lord enabled us to touch the lives of many with unconditional love and passion.

During our ministry at the Dorchester Community Center, God was moving on Pastor Young’s heart about the church name.  After prayerful discussion we moved that the name of the church be changed to Bible Temple.  Pastor Young’s vision regarding the church name was two-fold:
1. Bible – this was what it would take to change the mind-set and the thinking of the ones we were to reach
2. Temple – the importance of each person living a holy life as individuals dedicated and controlled by Christ.  Another part of the vision was to seek a permanent place for our church family to grow and worship.

In August 2005, the Lord ordered our steps and 3370 Leonardtown Rd., Waldorf, MD became our first church home.  We understand that the journey is not always easy, but if God be for us, who or what on earth can be against us. There were times when it was just six of us, but we diligently came out every Sunday and our faith increased each day.  God’s word was preached with the same conviction as if there were 500 people and the spirit of God move mightily. Our mission is still to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, to assist the community however God leads us. To build a church consisting of an early learning center for children, senior care, and a resource center for men, women and children.

Bible Temple is still on the battlefield for the Lord, committed to His work.  May God bless you and we pray that God will lead you to become a part of this growing family ministry.
